I’ve been working on a new Viking underdress today. I got all the pieces cut out and the edges zigzagged, because I wanted to do that before I assemble everything, since with the apron dress I made recently I couldn’t zigzag the seams on the points of the gores after I had sewed the pieces together.
Per the instructions, I also finished the neck hole at this early stage of things, although when I did my first underdress, I did the neck hole last of all, along with the sleeve hems and the bottom hem. But since I’m trying out this pattern that is new to me, I figured it would behoove me to go with the program.
Here’s what it looks like tonight, loosely pinned together:
There are two gores on each side, in addition to the center panel, which is one long piece of material from front to back, with a hole for the head. Since my fabric is only 44″ wide, I couldn’t do much of a flare with my gores. Still, the dress will go under an apron dress or smokkr, which is why it is called an “underdress.” LOL! 😛 And the apron dress I made recently is nicely flared. So it’s all good. 🙂
Also today I received my new business cards! I had hoped to order more of my old cards, but they are no longer available, so I browsed through offerings of many companies and sites, until I came upon one that I liked. It is purple like my harp. ❤
I am putting a redacted version of the card up, because the one I ordered contains personal contact information. If you want to contact me off of WordPress, just let me know! 🙂
The back of the card says “Medieval Harper, Viking Studies Teacher, Living the Dream.” “Living the Dream” is the SCA motto. ❤
