Yup, that’s the question, alright:  what the heck have I gotten myself into?

I went to my first class of Intro to Medieval Lit yesterday.  It was actually the second day of the class, but I didn’t register in time to go to the first class.  So I was already not with the program, starting out from behind.  I always hate that.  But sometimes it’s just the way it is…

It’s been a REALLY LONG TIME since I was in an advanced level literature class.  Decades, in fact.  And during that time things have gotten incredibly more complex, slangy, theoretical, and of course, tech-dependent.  I was at a loss, especially since I hadn’t known or done the assignment (several books of the Aeneid, by Virgil, or Vergil as my prof prefers).  And I HATE being at a loss, especially in things academic or intellectual. [See  Volunteering: What’s Up with That?]

And, although auditors typically don’t have to do papers, projects, presentations or exams, the prof, who is very engaging, asked me to do a ten-minute presentation in class of “supplementary primary and secondary sources” on a topic that would increase the class’s knowledge of the “literary-historical” dimensions of the works we will be reading.  OMG!!!

But, on the bright side, I now have my student ID’s for both MTSO, the seminary, and Ohio State:

And I got my parking permit, too.  AND I ordered my books for Medieval Lit, which are coming tomorrow (thank you, Amazon Prime).  All in one day!

To celebrate, here’s a track I like a lot from Katy Perry, with Kanye West.  You simply MUST see this gorgeous other-worldly video:
